My mother, Eleanor (Nóra) Teleki often spoke about the wonderful time she spent in the castle and gardens as a child. She lived with her parents István Teleki and Eleonóra Fernbach in Budapest, and at the same house lived János Teleki and Márta Fernbach and their son Karcsi. They all holidayed together in Koltó along with their cousin András Domahidy. My mother developed her love for nature and the countryside playing with her two cousins there. There were only two small photos of the house that I saw as a child in Australia but my mother’s enthusiasm made me want to see it some day. My wife Anne Marie and I finally saw the house, gardens and nearby cemetery in 2018 and were captivated by its charm and historical importance. With the recent restoration it is destined to be an important local historical landmark.
